Midtown Achievement Program Print E-mail

Midtown studentsPrepare for high school!  What happens when you combine fun and challenging academic classes, competitive sports, mentoring from excellent male role models, and character development?  You end up with the premier program in Chicago for young men in 7th and 8th grade . . . the Midtown Achievement Program, which has prepared thousands of students for college preparatory high schools since 1965.

Program Details:

The Midtown Achievement Program is designed primarily for young men who have average academic abilities and the sincere desire to improve academically and personally. Classes are not remedial; rather, students encounter work that prepares them for the demands of a college preparatory high school.

Individual mentoring is at the heart of the program. Each student is matched with an advisor who helps him to form good habits and attitudes. Advisors encourage students to develop their strength of character and work toward positive goals.

The program's academic classes include Math, English, Science and Character Development. Sports include basketball, soccer, flag football, softball, street hockey, volleyball and dodgeball.  Students also attend cultural excursions and benefit from service opportunities. The participation of parents, through attendance at monthly presentations, is a fundamental expectation of the program.

The Midtown Achievement Program addresses the needs of students in a well-rounded way and at a critical age of development and thus, in cooperation with all of the efforts of parents, molds young men to be leaders both now and in the future.
